Details ski touring in Morocco
Day 1: Flight to Marrakech, transfer to Imlil, our base for ski touring in the High Atlas. Get-together at dinner, discussing details of the programme, equipment check. Overnight stay in a guesthouse.
Day 2: Transfer to the Amguedoul Valley north of Djebel Toubkal by Land Rover for our first ski tour to Likemt with wonderful firn slopes. Overnight stay in the region of Tacheddirt.
Vertical distance: 1.500 m, Hiking time: 3-4 h.
Day 3: Ski tour to the eastern peak of Iguenouane. Our porters will welcome us with traditional mint tee and a typical light meal. Transfer by off-road vehicle to Imlil. Traditional dinner, overnight stay in a guesthouse with hot shower.
Vertical distance: 1.600 m, Hiking time: 4-5 h.
Day 4: After a good night’s sleep we set off to Neltner Hut, where we spend the night.
Vertical distance: 1.500 m, Hiking time: 4-5 h.
Day 5: Fantastic tour from Neltner Hut in the Toubkal massif to Clochetons Couloir.
Vertical Distance: 1.000 m, Hiking time: 3 h.
Day 6: From Neltner Hut to the summit of Djebel Toubkal, the roof of North-Africa (4.167 m).
Vertical distance: 1.000 m, Hiking time: 3-4 h.
Day 7: Collecting peaks beyond 4000 m. Beautiful tour with at least three summits: Times Guida (4.089m), Ras (4.083 m), Akjoud (4.010 m).
Vertical distance: 1.500 m, Hiking time: 4-5 h.
Day 8: Ski tour in the central massif towards Toubkal. Exciting north-facing descent to Sidi Chamharouch, transfer to Imlil and on to the royal city of Marrakech by jeep.
Vertical distance: 900 m, Hiking time: 3 h.
Day 9: Sightseeing in Marrakech with a tour guide: Jemaa el-Fnaa (“square of pleasures and the beheaded”), city wall (12 km long and dating from the 12th century), souks (a labyrinth of small alleys with passages, vaults and bazaars) or to Koutoubia-Mosque (the 77 m-high landmark of the city). There will be time for strolling, shopping or visiting a traditional Hamam bathhouse. Overnight stay at the Hotel Riad, a surprise from Arabian Nights.
Day 10: Transfer to the airport, departure.
